TotalNEWS is one of the top news source search engines I have found....with a few qualifications. The good news is that this search engine effectively searches a broad range of news services and, most importantly, newspapers and other periodicals and returns the most current first. To get the best results you should use only one word at a time or a very short phrase ("enclose in quotes"). If you use a lot of different words, it returns inferior results. It does not have an OR function. When the results are displayed they are the first block of text that contain your keyword which is shown in bold type. I really dislike the fact that it uses frames and javascript and always brings up it's image heavy menus with the results. To avoid that, come back to this back for follow up searches. TotalNEWS limits you to 10 results per page. The Eureka! version allows you to get from 10 to 100 results at a time at your option. TotalNEWS does a good job at getting local news which is something you don't get from the big search engine news services or from the wire services.
