Scrub the Web

Scrub the Web is a directory without a directory page. It is classified as a directory because it only list sites that are submitted to it, but it is missing value by not presenting the information in a catalog form. One benefit though is that they automatically update their database as soon as you make a submission so you don't have to wait months for a listing as with some directories. Scrub does a few things I frown on. First, they favor (list higher) web sites that link to their site. Second, they produce advertisements for other products and their own products as results at the top of the returned list regardless of how irrelevant they are to the search. Both of these practices defeat the purpose of a search engine. None the less, I include Scrub the Web here because it does have some good content and is worth using.
